Battle of the Somme House Competition

The History Department recently marked the 110th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme with a House Competition, inviting students to create commemorative pieces reflecting on this significant moment in history. We were fortunate to welcome Mr Down, one of our HSL governors, as judge. He was extremely impressed by the outstanding quality, creativity, and historical understanding shown in all entries, and commented on how difficult it was to select the winners.

Congratulations to our prize winners: Flo S (9LB) who achieved first place, followed by Fred C (9CH) in second place and Madeline E (7WI1) in third place. Highly commended entries were awarded to Harry W (8IS1), and Layla B (9LB).

A huge thank you to all students who took part and contributed to such a thoughtful and engaging competition.
