Music Tuition 2021/2022

We are delighted to be able to offer a very wide range of music tuition options for the pupils as they start Year 7.  All families received a Music Tuition Booklet as part of the transition information.

Available instruments

Violin; Viola; Cello; Double Bass (tbc)

Flute; Saxophone; Clarinet; Oboe; Bassoon (tbc)

Trumpet/cornet; Trombone; French Horn; Tuba; Eb Horn; Euphonium; Baritone

Drum Kit; Acoustic Guitar; Electric Guitar; Bass Guitar; Ukulele; Singing; Piano

There is likely to be high demand for instrumental tuition. We will try and accommodate all pupils, however waiting lists will be established if lessons are oversubscribed.

Extracurricular Music Groups

There is an expectation for students to participate regularly in at least one Music Extracurricular activity if having lessons in school.

These groups are likely to include Brass Group, String Group, Woodwind Group, Orchestra, Balcajazz, Sambalca and Boys’ Singers. These groups will welcome pupils from Balcarras as well as The High School Leckhampton

The High School Leckhampton has its own Choir every Tuesday Lunchtime, led by our Musical Director Miss Smith.  We would encourage as many pupils as possible to attend this important group.

Practice and Practice Rooms

Obviously, to make progress, students need to be practising on a regular basis. Practice Rooms can be booked for use before and after school and at lunchtime. Rooms can be booked for the week ahead by seeing Mrs Chong, Head of Music at Balcarras.

£ per 15 lessons

£ per year

Music tuition fees are collected twice yearly (Block 1 and Block 2), based on fifteen lessons per block.

We collect payments for music lessons in advance. The school online payment system is available for music tuition fees and parents will receive information about how to do this as part of transition.

It is possible to pay in monthly instalments by setting up a Standing Order. Five lessons have to be paid for initially and a Standing Order can be set up to divide remaining payments across nine months, September to May.
